Acai Bowls

What is an acai bowl? It’s a delicious, nutritious fruit dish made from an acai berry, a small oval-shaped fruit native to South America. They’re rich in antioxidants and have been used for centuries by indigenous Amazonians as a natural remedy for flu symptoms, arthritis and even cancer. Because it’s so rich in nutrients and vitamins, many people have started incorporating acai berries into their diets to help boost their energy levels, acne prevention, and weight loss goals.

Acai berries are mixed with blueberries or other fruits in order to create the delicious base of this dish. The fruits are then mixed with almond milk (or other milk substitutes), and frozen into a creamy smoothie base on the consistency of ice cream. This blend is topped with granola or other cereals, fresh fruit (such as bananas or strawberries), and honey or agave nectar as a sweetener.
